MANAGUA – NICARAGUA / El Gobierno de Nicaragua defensora de la soberanía y la vida exige respeto al Tratado de No Proliferación de las Armas Nucleares (TNP) y denuncia los ataques continuos de Israel y Estados Unidos contra Irán, donde destaca la reciente agresión armada contra instalaciones nucleares iraníes, poniendo en riesgo un desastre nuclear de grandes proporciones.

NOTA DE PRENSA
Nicaragua, como Estado parte del Tratado sobre la No Proliferación de las Armas Nucleares (TNP), respeta y exige respeto para lo dispuesto en ese instrumento de vital importancia para la sobrevivencia de la humanidad. Pero a la vez recuerda que ese Tratado está dirigido a limitar la proliferación de las armas nucleares, pero no afecta el derecho a desarrollar la investigación, la producción y la utilización de la energía nuclear con fines pacíficos.
La República Islámica de Irán ha desarrollado y utilizado la energía nuclear con fines pacíficos durante varias décadas, incluso antes de que se negociara y firmara el TNP. En todos esos años no ha utilizado su programa de energía nuclear para adquirir o fabricar armas nucleares. Esto lo han confirmado recientemente incluso las más altas autoridades de seguridad nacional de países occidentales particularmente de EEUU.
Irán ha mantenido ese rechazo al recurso de las armas nucleares a pesar de sufrir los ataques continuos de Estados con armas nucleares como Israel y EEUU. Valga recordar la reciente agresión armada de Israel seguidas por la de EEUU que incluyeron ataques a las instalaciones nucleares iraníes a pesar del enorme riesgo de crear un desastre nuclear de grandes proporciones.
En vez de sancionar estas agresiones armadas que violan flagrantemente el derecho internacional, los socios de EEUU en la OTAN, Alemania, Francia y Reino Unido, intentan ahora acusar a Irán de violar acuerdos de limitación de armas nucleares con el propósito de continuar e incrementar las sanciones ilegales que le han venido imponiendo durante décadas. En vez de sancionar a Israel, el Estado que agredió militarmente a Irán y que está perpetrando el genocidio del Pueblo Palestino, por el contrario, le dan todo el apoyo político, económico y militar para que continúe sus crímenes internacionales.
El Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de la República Islámica de Irán ha dirigido una carta al Presidente en Funciones del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas, al Jefe de Política Exterior de la Unión Europea y Coordinador del Plan de Acción Integral Conjunto, así como a miembros del Consejo de Seguridad en respuesta a los intentos de esos 3 países europeos, para reactivar las resoluciones del Consejo de Seguridad e imponer sanciones a su Nación.
Se considera importante dar a conocer el texto de esta nota para que el pueblo de Nicaragua esté enterado de esta colusión de los tres Estados mencionados con el régimen genocida de Israel y las agresiones armadas de EEUU.

Nicaragua, as a State party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), respects, and demands that other States respect, the provisions of that instrument, which is vitally important for the survival of humanity. However, at the same time, Nicaragua recalls that this Treaty is aimed at limiting the proliferation of nuclear weapons, but does not affect the right to develop the research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been developing and using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes over several decades, even before the NPT was negotiated and signed. In all those years, it has not used its nuclear energy program to acquire or manufacture nuclear weapons. This has recently been confirmed even by the highest national security authorities of Western countries, particularly the United States.
Iran has maintained this rejection of the use of nuclear weapons despite suffering continuous attacks from nuclear-armed states such as Israel and the United States. It is worth recalling the recent armed aggression of Israel followed by that of the United States, which included attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, despite the enormous risk of creating a major nuclear disaster.
Instead of imposing sanctions for these armed attacks which flagrantly violate international law, the US NATO partners, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, are now seeking to accuse Iran of violating nuclear arms limitation agreements so that they can continue and even increase the illegal sanctions they have imposed on Iran for decades. Instead of sanctioning Israel, the State which militarily attacked Iran and which is perpetrating the genocide of the Palestinian People, to the contrary, they give Israel every political, economic and military support to continue its international crimes.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has addressed a letter to the Acting President of the United Nations Security Council, the Head of Foreign Policy of the European Union and Coordinator of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as well as members of the Security Council in response to attempts by those three European countries, to reactivate Security Council resolutions and impose sanctions on the Nation of Iran.
It is important to make the text of this note known so that the people of Nicaragua are aware of the collusion of the three aforementioned States with the genocidal regime of Israel and with the armed aggression of the United States.
