Herman@s nicaragüenses, estamos en un Mes donde, como lo había ya jurado nuestro General de Hombres Libres, la Patria no se vendía, y los Combatientes del Ejército Defensor de la Soberanía Nacional tampoco se rendían y mucho menos se vendían, y por eso él juró: ¡Patria Libre! ¡Patria Libre! Y logró derrotar a los invasores. No pudieron derrotarlo.
Todos conocemos la historia, cómo luego de la retirada, en derrota, de las tropas yanquis, de Nicaragua, derrotados por un Ejército de Campesinos, de Trabajadores. Entonces Sandino, que no había empuñado las armas porque fuese amante de la guerra, sino porque era amante de la Paz, y no podía aceptar que Nicaragua fuese ocupada por las tropas yanquis. Y ya retiradas las tropas yanquis de Nicaragua, asumiendo Somoza la Jefatura del Ejército, organizado por los yanquis, manejado por los yanquis, y un Presidente aparentemente con deseos de promover la Paz, empezaron a intercambiar.
Sandino sabía los riesgos que corría, y se lo decían los otros Compañeros de la Jefatura del Ejército Defensor de la Soberanía Nacional. Él hizo varios viajes a Managua y cuando venía para Managua, en el primer viaje, ya no había tropas yanquis aquí; entonces le decían que no fuese a Managua, porque aquí lo iban a asesinar.
Y él respondió: No hay más camino que arriesgar la Vida, la hemos arriesgado enfrentando a las tropas, las hemos derrotado; ahora se trata de dialogar y buscar acuerdos, entendimiento, para que la Paz reine en Nicaragua y que no vuelvan a haber guerras en Nicaragua.
Bajó una vez a Managua, estuvieron reunidos, estuvieron conversando, con el mismo Somoza. Esa foto es histórica, donde Somoza abraza, el abrazo de Judas, es como el beso de Judas a Cristo el abrazo que Somoza le da a Sandino, y le dice que eran Hermanos Masones. Ahí está esa foto para la Historia.
Continúan las reuniones, se firman los Acuerdos de Paz; ya culminados los Acuerdos de Paz, el Presidente invita a Sandino a la Casa Presidencial, aquí donde está el Monumento del General Sandino, en la Loma de Tiscapa, ahí era la Presidencia. Lo invita a una cena, y va Sandino con varios Compañeros, y Sacasa, que era el Presidente, lo recibe ahí en la Presidencia con su hija y con otros Ministros. Y quién se podía imaginar que ya la sentencia de muerte estaba dictada por los traidores.
Luego que termina la cena se despiden, y empieza a bajar Sandino por la avenida, empieza a bajar el General Sandino; en ese tiempo a esa avenida le habían puesto el nombre de “Avenida Roosevelt”, en una actitud de servilismo con el Imperio. Vienen bajando y ya cerca de esta zona están los guardias de Somoza, los detienen, los hacen bajarse de los vehículos.
Luego aparece la hija del Presidente Sacasa y les dice, les reclama la hija del Presidente Sacasa, pero ya ellos tenían la orden de detenerlo y asesinarlo. Y eso fue lo que pasó un 21 de Febrero.
Un 21 de Febrero fue asesinado en la zona donde está actualmente la Estación de Policía, la Ajax Delegado, en esa zona. Ahí se estaba haciendo un plan para arreglar y levantarle un Monumento a Sandino, que tengamos ahí un lugar donde visitarlo. Porque, ¡Sandino Vive! ¡Sandino Vive! Lo eliminaron físicamente, pero Sandino quedó en el Corazón del Pueblo.
Este Mes de Febrero está lleno de Efemérides Históricas, antes de las Batallas del General Sandino, de las Batallas de Zeledón contra los yanquis, se había dado la Batalla de los Indios Flecheros de Matagalpa con el General José Dolores Estrada al frente, y Andrés Castro lanzando la piedra y derribando al invasor. Esa Gesta Heroica no puede pasar al olvido, quedó plantada para la Historia.
Y un 1º de Febrero, cuando Walker era el Presidente de Nicaragua, pero estaba enfrentándose a la Resistencia, a la lucha de los Héroes nicaragüenses, de los Combatientes descalzos, mal armados, pero con mucha mayor conciencia de lo que es la Patria, para estar dispuestos a dar la Vida para defender la Patria.
Y un 1º de Febrero, los yanquis ya iban en retirada y se habían acuartelado en Rivas, estaban acuartelados en un local que era conocido como el Mesón, ahí estaban acuartelados y resistiendo los ataques que lanzaban los Patriotas nicaragüenses, estaban resistiendo todavía. Y un Profesor, el Profesor Emanuel Mongalo tomó la tea, la antorcha, y se fue con la antorcha sobre el Mesón y lo incendió, y los yanquis empezaron a retirarse del Mesón. Acciones Heroicas de un Pueblo Noble, de un Pueblo que no está buscando dominar a nadie, más que ser libre.
Y en este Mes de Febrero también conmemoramos un Aniversario más de aquel grito que se alzó por el Mundo: ¡Monimbó es Nicaragua! 26 de Febrero, y una sorpresa, nadie se imaginaba una Insurrección en Monimbó, pero la organizaron los Artesanos, los humildes Trabajadores de Monimbó, los Campesinos, y se levantaron en combate.
Fue un combate que asustó a la Tiranía, que empezó a mandar tanques, aviones, para bombardear
al Pueblo de Monimbó y que se aterrorizara el Pueblo de Monimbó, y que huyera el Pueblo de Monimbó. Pero, al contrario, Combatientes del Frente Sandinista, que lo que hicieron fue trasladarse a Monimbó con Camilo a la cabeza, y seguir ahí dando la batalla.
La explosión fue tan grande, los crímenes que cometieron ellos allí con los tanques, con la aviación, fue tan terrible que conmovió al Pueblo nicaragüense, y conmovió al Mundo. Ellos lograron asesinar a la mayoría de los Combatientes, incluyendo a Camilo, pero eso no desmoralizó al Pueblo de Monimbó.
Luego, con el paso del tiempo se organizarían y se alzarían nuevamente, hasta acompañar el derrocamiento de la Dictadura el 19 de Julio de 1979.
Vamos a saludar desde este Centro de Convenciones Olof Palme, con todo el Calor, todo el Amor y la Combatividad de la Juventud, a l@s Herman@s de Bilwi. Ellos nos están viendo y nosotros los estamos viendo también aquí, están al frente de un Hospital, que nunca en la Historia de Nicaragua se pensó que podría haber un Hospital con tanto desarrollo, con tanta tecnología, con tantos Médicos y Servidores de la población, para atender a l@s Herman@s de la Costa Caribe Norte.
Y precisamente hay un vínculo histórico del General Sandino con Bilwi, porque cuando él les dice a los traidores que habían vendido las armas, que él ni se vende, ni se rinde, y mientras tanto los traidores van a botar las armas ahí en el mar, ahí en la zona de Bilwi, en la zona del mar, estaban aterrorizados, eran unos cobardes, y corrieron a tirar las armas allá.
Luego el General Sandino organizó un Destacamento con Herman@s de Bilwi y un componente de Mujeres
de Bilwi que se dieron a la tarea de estar allí en el mar buscando las armas, buceando, hasta rescatar las armas; y así se rescató un buen puñado de armas que fueron inmediatamente utilizadas, porque pasaron a manos del Ejército Defensor de la Soberanía Nacional.
Y el General Sandino organizó, ahí en las riberas del Mar y en las riberas del Río Coco también, organizó a las Comunidades, reconociendo el valor que tenían y el Derecho que tenían a ser dueños de sus propias tierras; porque en ese momento ellos no eran dueños de sus propias tierras.
Y ahí en Bilwi tenemos, vamos a dar estos datos aquí, de lo que es esta Obra Majestuosa para la Salud del Pueblo, y seguros de que todos los que lleguen a ese Hospital a solicitar Atención Médica, sean del propio Bilwi, sean de las Comunidades, sean de Comunidades que estén más alejadas de Bilwi, sean de Las Minas, podrán llegar a solicitar Atención Médica con equipos de Alta Tecnología y no se les cobrará ni un centavo.
Ahí están sacando tomas del Hospital, un Hospital de Primer Mundo, basta con ver los pasadizos que hay; miren el Tomógrafo, un Tomógrafo moderno, que si alguien quiere hacerse un examen con privados le cuesta un capital. Ahí ¡cero centavo! Ahí tenemos Médicos; están todos los equipos. Y ahí está la Juventud, la Juventud que va a entregar esta tarde, esta noche, va a entregar ese Hospital al Pueblo de Bilwi.
El nombre del Hospital fue (idea) de la Rosario, sobrina nieta del General Sandino, y no era para menos, ya que hoy Lunes 23 de Febrero entregaremos el Hospital Sandino Nuevo Amanecer, ubicado en Bilwi, Costa Caribe Norte, que nos permitirá atender en mejores condiciones a más de 500,000 Herman@s.
La construcción de este Hospital costó un poco más de 100 millones de dólares, y tiene todos los equipos más modernos que hay en estos momentos en el Mundo; porque los Hospitales que hemos venido construyendo en estos tiempos ya vienen con la tecnología más moderna. Son equipos caros, pero es la Salud, la Vida de l@s Niñ@s, de l@s Jóvenes, de l@s Adultos. Es la Salud del Pueblo.
Felicitamos a los Trabajadores que laboraron en la construcción de este Hospital, a los Técnicos, a los Ingenieros, al Ministerio de Salud, al Doctor Porras, Ministro de Salud; él tiene que responder por estas Obras, claro que tiene que responder por estas Obras. Y al Pueblo.
Fíjense qué bien se ve el rótulo, el nombre, Hospital Sandino Nuevo Amanecer, Región Autónoma del Caribe Norte.
Y aquí, acompañados de la Compañera Rosario, del Compañero Gustavo; de la Compañera Raquel Dixon, también originaria de la Costa Caribe, sí, de Bilwi, Raquel Dixon, que está en la Directiva, es la Primera Secretaria de la Asamblea Nacional. Yo conocí a Raquel en un recorrido por la Costa, ahí una Maestra y una Mujer valiente, consciente, luchadora, y que ha puesto en alto el nombre de la Costa en la Junta Directiva de la Asamblea Nacional.
También aquí tenemos a otro Hermano costeño, que és el Delegado de la Presidencia para la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua, el Comandante Lumberto Campbell.
Nuestro Hermano, Compañero de Lucha General de Ejército Julio César Avilés, Comandante en Jefe del Ejército de Nicaragua.
El Coronel General Bayardo Rodríguez, Jefe del Estado Mayor del Ejército de Nicaragua; el Coronel General Marvin Elías Corrales, Inspector General del Ejército de Nicaragua.
El Primer Comisionado Francisco Díaz, Jefe de las Fuerzas Policiales de Nicaragua; el Comisionado General Victoriano Ruiz, Jefe de las Fuerzas Policiales de Nicaragua.
La Compañera María Amelia Coronel, Ministra del Interior; y nuestro Querido Hermano y Compañero, el Comisionado General Luis Cañas, Viceministro del Interior.
Ahora, después de escuchar, o escuchando ya ese Canto de Honor, de Valentía, “Soberanía” ya lo escuchamos, ahora vamos a escuchar “Hay Patria”. Entonces, con “Hay Patria” van a empezar a marchar allá los Compañeros para hacer entrega del Hospital Sandino Nuevo Amanecer, en Bilwi.
La entrega de esta Obra, una Obra Extraordinaria para la Salud del Pueblo, lo hacemos con todo el Amor, con todo el Coraje, con toda la Combatividad, porque és gracias a los Héroes y Mártires, miles y miles; más de 100,000 solamente en lo que fue la batalla para derrocar a la Dictadura, y la otra Batalla para enfrentar la otra invasión yanqui.
Porque triunfamos en el 79 y ahí nomás vino la invasión, y el Presidente de los Estados Unidos al frente de los terroristas, y la Corte Internacional de Justicia de La Haya condenando a los Estados Unidos por los actos terroristas y mandándolos a indemnizar a Nicaragua.
Llegará el día en que habrá un Gobierno verdaderamente respetuoso de las Leyes, respetuoso de la Constitución, respetuoso de la Humanidad; habrá un Gobierno en los Estados Unidos que indemnizará a Nicaragua… ¡Llegará ese día!
Estas Obras, estos Hospitales, estas Carreteras, las Viviendas, todo lo que se está construyendo y entregando al Pueblo, también se lo debemos a las Madres y familiares de los Héroes y Mártires.
Todos ellos están presentes, con el General Sandino a la cabeza están presentes en la entrega de este Hospital.

Nicaraguan Brothers and Sisters, we are in a month where, as our General of Free Men and Women had then sworn, the Nation is not or sale, nor were the combatants of the Army in Defense of National Sovereignty going to surrender, much less sell out, and that’s why he swore: A Free Patriotic Nation! A Free Nation! And he managed to defeat the invaders. They could not defeat him.
We all know the story, how after the withdrawal, in defeat, of the Yankee troops, from Nicaragua, defeated by an Army of Peasants, of Workers. Then Sandino, who had taken up arms not because he wanted to make war, but because he was a lover of Peace, and could not accept that Nicaragua was occupied by Yankee troops. And once the Yankee troops were withdrawn from Nicaragua, Somoza assumed the leadership of the Army, one organized by the Yankees and managed by the Yankees, but with a President apparently wanting to promote Peace, so they began to engage in exchanges.
Sandino knew the risks he was running, and the other Compañeros at the Head of the Army in Defense of National Sovereignty told him so. He made several trips to Managua and when he came to Managua, on the first trip, there were no Yankee troops here anymore; his generals told him then not to go to Managua, because they were going to assassinate him here.
And he replied: There is no other way but to risk one’s Life, we have risked it facing their troops, we have defeated them; now it is a matter of dialogue and seeking agreements, understandings, so that Peace reigns in Nicaragua and that there are no more wars in Nicaragua.
He went down once to Managua, and they met, they talked, with Somoza himself. That photo is historic, where Somoza embraces Sandino with the embrace of Judas, like the kiss of Judas to Christ that hug Somoza gave to Sandino, while telling him that they were Freemason Brothers. There’s that picture for history.
The meetings continue, the Peace Agreements were signed; once the Peace Agreements were completed, the President invited Sandino to the Presidential House, here where the Monument of General Sandino is, on the Hill of Tiscapa, that was the Presidency. He invited him to a dinner, and
Sandino went with various Compañeros, and Sacasa, who was the President, received him there at the Presidency with his daughter and with other Ministers. And who could have imagined that the death sentence had already been issued by the traitors.
After the dinner finished, they said goodbye, and Sandino began to go down the avenue, General Sandino began his way down; at that time they had named that avenue «Roosevelt Avenue», as a mark of servility to the Empire. They were going down and Somoza’s guards were already near that area, they stopped them and made them get out of the vehicles.
Then President Sacasa’s daughter appeared and told them, President Sacasa’s daughter was insisting, but they already had the order to arrest him and assassinate him. And that’s what happened on February 21st.
On February 21st he was murdered bear where the police station is currently located, the Ajax Delegado, in that area. A plan was under way to establish and build a monument there to Sandino, so that we might have a place there to visit him because Sandino Lives On! Sandino Lives! He was physically eliminated, but Sandino remains in the Heart of the People.
This month of February is full of historical events, before the battles of General Sandino, of the battles of Zeledón against the Yankees, there had been the battle of the Indian archers of Matagalpa with General José Dolores Estrada at their head, and Andrés Castro throwing that stone and bringing down the invader. This Heroic Deed cannot be forgotten, it is sown in our history.
And on February 1st, when Walker was the President of Nicaragua, but facing the resistance and struggle of Nicaragua’s heroes, of the barefoot fighters, poorly armed, but with very great consciousness of what their Patriotic Nation means, such that they were willing to give their lives to defend their Nation.
And one February 1st, when the Yankees were already in retreat and had taken up quarters in Rivas, they were quartered in a place that was known as El Mesón, they were quartered there, resisting the attacks launched by the Nicaraguan Patriots, they were still resisting. And a professor, Professor Emanuel Mongalo took the flame, the torch, and carried the torch to that hotel El Meson and set it on fire, and the Yankees began to retreat from the hotel. Heroic actions of a Noble People, of a People that does not seek to dominate anyone, only to be free.
And in this month of February we also commemorate one more Anniversary of the cry that rose up around the world: Monimbó is Nicaragua! February 26th and it was a surprise, because no one imagined an insurrection in
Monimbó, but it was organized by the Artisans, the humble Workers of Monimbó, the Peasants, and they rose up in combat.
It was a combat that frightened the Tyranny, which began to send tanks, planes, to bomb the People of Monimbó so that the People of Monimbó would be terrified, and so the People of Monimbó would flee. However, on the contrary, the combatants of the Sandinista Front, what they did was move to Monimbó with Camilo at their head, and continue fighting the battle there .
That popular explosion was so big and the crimes committed there with the tanks, with the aviation were so terrible that it moved the Nicaraguan people, and it moved the world. They managed to kill most of the combatants, including Camilo, but that did not demoralize the people of Monimbó.
With the passage of time, they then organized and rose up again, finally accompanying the overthrow of the Dictatorship on July 19th 1979.
We are going to salute from this Olof Palme Convention Center, with all the Warmth, all the Love that Combativeness of the Youth, the Brothers and Sisters of Bilwi. They can see us and we can also see them there, they are there outside a Hospital which never in the history of Nicaragua could it be imagined a Hospital with so much development, with so much technology, with so many Doctors and people at the service of the population, serving the Brothers and Sisters of the Northern Caribbean Coast.
And there is a precise historical link between General Sandino and Bilwi, because when he told the traitors who had sold their weapons, that he neither sells out himself, nor surrenders, and while the traitors dumped their weapons there in the sea, there near Bilwi, in the sea there, they were terrified, they were cowards, and they ran to throw away their weapons there…
So General Sandino organized a detachment of brothers from Bilwi and a component of women from Bilwi who took on the task of going into the sea looking for those weapons, diving, until they rescued the weapons; and so a good handful of weapons were rescued that were immediately used, because they were given into the hands of the Army in Defense of National Sovereignty.
And General Sandino organized, there on the sea coast and on the banks of the Coco River as well, he organized the communities there, recognizing their value their right to own their own lands; because at that time they did not have ownership of their own lands.
And there in Bilwi we now have, we are going to give the data we have here, about what this Majestic Work is for the Health of our People, and we are sure that everyone who goes to that Hospital to request Medical Attention, whether from Bilwi itself, or from the Communities, whether from Communities that are further from Bilwi, or from the Mining Region, will be able to request medical attention with high-tech equipment and without being charged a cent.
There they are taking photos of the Hospital, a First World Hospital, just look at the corridors there look at the CAT scanner, a modern CAT scanner, which if someone wanted to get an examination privately would cost them a great deal. No one pays a cent there! We have doctors there; all the relevant teams are there. And there now is our Youth, the Youth that will deliver this afternoon, this evening, they will hand over that Hospital to the People of Bilwi.
The name of the Hospital was the idea of Rosario, who is grandniece of General Sandino, and not for nothing since today, Monday, February 23rd we will hand over the Sandino Nuevo Amanecer Hospital, of Bilwi on our North Caribbean Coast, allowing us to offer better conditions of service to more than 500,000 Brothers and Sisters.
The construction of this modern hospital cost a little over US$100 million, and it has all the most modern equipment available in the world right now; because the hospitals that we have been building recently now come with the most modern technology. They are expensive pieces of equipment, but it is for the health, the life of children, young people and adults. It is the health of the people.
We congratulate the Workers who worked on the construction of this Hospital, the Technicians, the Engineers, the Ministry of Health, Doctor Porras, the Minister of Health; he has to be responsible for these Works, and of course be accountable for these Works, to the People.
You can see how well the sign appears with the name Hospital Sandino Nuevo Amanecer, Autonomous Region of the Northern Caribbean.
And here, accompanied by Compañera Rosario, Compañero Gustavo, Compañera Raquel Dixon, also from the Caribbean Coast, yes, from Bilwi, Raquel Dixon, who is on the Board of the National Assembly, as First Secretary. The hand over of this work, an extraordinary work for the health of the People, we do with all the Love, with all the Courage, with all Combativeness, because it is thanks to the Heroes and Martyrs, thousands and thousands; more than 100,000 just in the battle to overthrow the Dictatorship, and then the other battle to confront another Yankee invasion.
Because we triumphed in ’79 and that was when that invasion came, with the President of the United States at the head of the terrorists, and the International Court of Justice in The Hague condemning the United States for its terrorist acts and ordering them to compensate Nicaragua.
The day will come when there will be a US Government that is truly respectful of the Laws, respectful of its own Constitution, respectful of humanity; there will be a Government in the United States that will compensate Nicaragua… That day will come!
These Works, these Hospitals, these Roads, the Houses, everything that is being built and handed over to the People, we owe as well to the mothers and relatives of the Heroes and Martyrs.
All of them are present, with General Sandino at their head, they too are present at the handover of this Hospital.
